More on this evenings selectorsAcote, Jeff-Antoine Cote (he/him), is a percussionist, electronic music producer, DJ and sound designer based out of Toronto.
Jeff’s practice is rooted in the exploration of unique undertones in sounds, bass and rhythms. This has been accomplished through operas, baroque music concerts, art installations, and various audio/visual performances. Acote manipulates a vast pool of echoes and soundscapes according to the energy in a room, developing a personal bond with the viewer/listener/dancer.
Sharing the stage with international acts such as Djrum, Aurora Halal, Laurel Halo, Simo Cell, Hodge, Ciel, Shaggy, Drake and many more, Acote consistently delivers an eccentric and memorable performance as a DJ and live act.

———•———Cape Esan channels a randomness from around the globe into a singular sector of beauty. With influence ranging from gritty punk to jazz to pristine space age sound design, it’s safe to say that when he gets in the mix you can expect the unexpected. Sliding into the city’s scene over a decade ago with timeless sultry deep house production, Liam Bristow quickly established himself as a force of eclecticism on the dancefloor with his Temporal Drift event series. Releasing a gnarly dnb roller with Architextures seasonal compilation and becoming a regular guest on the illustrious Nitebeat radio sessions, young Cape Esan quickly had his name landing on the tips of tongues of Toronto’s finest veteran dj personelle. Performing at events like Spectrum, Solstice Festival, Stereo Ferment’s Global Boogie Banquet, Architextures and Sandwich District. These days he’s found a home in Hamilton where you can find him organising DIY raves, producing original music, popping out for club nights with dsptch and hosting internet radio broadcasts for Joint Selections. He also frequently features in Toronto’s nightlife environment, pumping out jams with his Sandwich District collective.

Mike Don’t and I have been playing together for years. It’s always great vibes, laughs and music with him. We played together at Parlour twice, and the first time was in 2015 the first one was 2022. When I started playing at Insomnia every Thursday in September 2023, it was just me. Then in early December I stared to bring friends a long for the ride. It’s hard to believe it’s been one whole year or DJ friends rolling through each week and sharing in the fun!
